First Ever Newsletter

Dear friends,

This is the first letter I am sending out into the world—first and foremost to share news of an upcoming December show at Augen Gallery in Portland, where I will be presenting new collaborative pieces created with my great artist friend, David Kitcher.

This collection marks the beginning of a new cycle after a pause of about three years—a time marked by profound life changes, including the loss of my father and brother, and many moves. These past years have been a very rough road to navigate.

Then, as I was recovering in the aftermath of all the life drama, I began collaborating on paintings and drawings on paper with my friend David. Together, we started weaving this new body of work. It has been a lifeline, bringing me back from an emotionally low place. I continue to be delighted and taken aback by what we have created. Like two little spiders spinning, we’ve built strange worlds out of thin air. The bizarre, wild and meaningful visions we have conjured, along with the harmony of our styles, never cease to surprise me.

As we finish up—getting ready to frame the work—I’m taking a moment to reflect on the journey and am eager to share this new work with you.

Thank you for your ongoing interest in my work—from past projects to what lies ahead.

Warmly,

Hibiki Miyazaki

The show opens on December 4 at Augen Gallery located at 716 NW Davis St, Portland, OR 97209
